Apple overcame travel restrictions and other disruptions caused by the Coronavirus to start initial production of iPhone 5G devices in mid-September, narrowing production delays to just weeks instead of months, according to a Nikkei Asian Review report. ).
Manufacturing will begin on a limited scale, and mass production is expected to begin gradually between the end of September and early October.
Two sources familiar with the matter said: This schedule is still behind Apple's usual schedule during the past few years, when mass production began in August for phones that would be released in September, but it is a significant improvement compared to the situation a few months ago.
The sources added that this model represents about 40 percent of Apple's production requests for iPhone phones that support the fifth generation (5G) networks, while the most expensive model will be the iPhone 5G with a triple-camera measuring 6.7 inches.
And Apple was able to increase the production of the new iPads recently without much interruption, and one person said: The production orders for the new iPads reached about 27 million units in the period from September to December, which is equivalent to almost all models ( iPad) - new and old - that were produced in the second half of last year.
A source familiar with the device said: Apple is also preparing a new accessory, known as (Airtag), that will allow users to track non-Apple devices, adding that the new device has already entered production.
However, given the lost time, Apple may fail to meet its production target for this year, as the California tech giant has ordered components for up to 80 million devices (iPhone 5G), but sources say: The actual number produced this year may be between 73 million and 74 million, with the rest pushed back to early 2021, two sources familiar with the matter said.
Meanwhile, Apple has significantly boosted manufacturing requests for upcoming iPads to meet demand for remote work and distance learning, the sources said, in an indication of the company's optimistic outlook for demand stability in the remainder of the year.
And production devices (iPhone 5G) begin with at least one model, which is the cheapest version with a 6.1-inch (OLED) screen and two rear cameras.
